The Foxford Goat Fair has been a permanent fixture in the calendar for many generations and is known as the oldest goat fair in Europe! What began as a place where people could buy and sell goats has evolved into an event where other animals such as horses and fowl, baked bread and vegetables are bought and sold and it has become an attraction for traditional stall traders selling their wares. In many areas the traditional old style fair is dying out but it is a tribute to all involved that the Foxford fair remains vibrant. Visitors to the town will also be encouraged to do a spot of fishing in the river May, arguably one of the best salmon fishing areas in Europe.
