1. Mayo Stages Rally @ Ballina and Killala
Dates: March 5th-6th
A fast-paced motor racing experience set against a truly dramatic background along the Wild Atlantic Way, the Mayo Stages Rally is an event not to be missed by those looking for thrills and excitement. The two day rally has a number of other events on throughout the weekend – including a motor show, demonstrations by stunt drives and a Road Safety Authority expo.
2. National Proclamation Day ( 15th March 2016)
Have you ever read the Proclamation? Have you ever seen a rare original Proclamation from the Easter Rising? If not then National Proclamation Day is the perfect day to visit the Jackie Clarke Collection and read an original Proclamation right here in Co. Mayo. On Tuesday the 15th of March, from 10am-5pm come view Jackie’s prized 1916 proclamation to mark the occasion, and take a tour of the fantastic 1916 Collection.
3. Official Launch of 1916 Exhibition (23rd March 2016)
On the 23rd of March from 6.30pm the Jackie Clarke Collection will be launching their 1916 exhibition. Brigadier General James Connolly, grandson of signatory James Connolly will be the guest of honour on the evening. All are welcome to attend.
4.Easter 1916 celebration (27th – 28th March)
From Sunday the 27th to Monday the 28th, the Jackie Clarke Collection will host a special two day Easter 1916 celebration. The Collection will be open from 2pm-5pm to mark the anniversary of the Easter Rising. Make sure you attend this very special, once in a lifetime event!

The Mayo Mud Run is an exhilarating, adrenaline pumping, 8km prize winning run. The fun starts on the road but quickly you will be tossed running/jogging/walking/crawling through fields, forest, water and drains! This thrill-seeking adventure course includes a multitude of natural obstacles and is set in the naturally rugged terrain of Moygownagh with mud being the common denominator! Mayo Mud Run is a challenge for all fitness levels.
6. Mad Hatter Easter Festival- Tuesday 15th- Monday 28th of March, Ballina.
This year Ballina’s St Patrick’s Day and Easter celebrations come together to form March Madness. Running from Tuesday the 15th to Monday the 28th, the festival catalogue is brimming with events to suit all ages.
On Tuesday the 15th from 10 – 5pm head to the Jackie Clarke Collection for National Proclamation Day. The Collection will feature some amazing artefacts including a genuine proclamation! Come and take a tour of the fantastic 1916 Collection.
On Thursday the 17th make sure not to miss the sights and sounds of the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Ballina. The Parade will begin at 4pm and make its way from Convent Hill, down Tone Street and through the town.
The Jackie Clarke Collection will host the Lucky Leprechaun Treasure Hunt on Saturday the 19th at 2pm to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There’ll be plenty of prizes and lots of fun to be had. Traditional music will be provided by the wonderful Maria Ruane and the Ballycastle School of Music.
On Saturday the 26th from 2-4pm bring the kids down to the Jackie Clarke Collection for the Collection’s Easter Weekend festivities with Easter Egg Painting and a marvellous treasure hunt. Make sure not to miss this amazing day of fun!
Wander down to Belleek Woods on Sunday the 27th from 2-5pm and experience the Easter Bunny Express. The train will take you on a magical adventure through the woods. (€2 per child)
From Sunday to Monday the Jackie Clarke Collection will host a special two day Easter 1916 celebration. The Collection hosts the biggest Exhibition of 1916 material on show outside of Dublin so make sure you attend this very special event.
