Foxford Traditional Weekend takes place in Foxford at a number of venues throughout the town from October 5th – 8th 2017. A weekend of culture with music workshops, set-dancing workshops, Sean-Nós dance competitions, sessions of music, song, dance and storytelling in Co Mayo all run by leading tutors and musicians.
Foxford Traditional weekend’s aim is to celebrate and cherish our native language through song, music and dance. This festival is open to everyone to participate and experience the warmth and richness of the Irish spirit.
A number of workshops in tin whistle, banjo, fiddle, accordion, concertina, Bodhrán, piano and singing along with a masterclass in performance will take place over the weekend. Set-dancing workshops too – all with top class tutors.The weekend will also host a Cultural Event featuring all-Ireland champion musicians and dancers and showcasing some of Mayo finest junior performers. Perpetual Cups will be awarded to outstanding musicians at this event.
