Ballina is renowned for its fishing

It is, after all, the Salmon Capital of Ireland, and the famous River Moy offers Ireland’s most prolific salmon angling waters.

This magnificent river has an annual rod catch of around 9000 salmon. You can enjoy fishing top-class fly water, spinning and worming.

The importance of the region for fishing is underpinned by the great lakes Lough Conn & Lough Cullen that yield brown trout, whilst sea-angling is ever-popular in Killala bay. The Moy Estuary is excellent for sea trout.

Imagine your ideal fishing break – peaceful natural environments with well-stocked lakes and rivers, majestic scenery and the finest accommodation waiting for you at the end of a satisfying day.

Whether your passion is fly or bait fishing in fresh or saltwater, you’ll find plenty of opportunities around Ballina and after a long day of fishing, you can return and retire to the Twin Trees Hotel.

Should you catch a fish, we will store it for you, until you are ready to take it home with you.

Ballina is also home to the renowned Clarke’s Salmon Smokery, with over 60 years of creating delicious smoked salmon. So, if you catch a fine salmon, Clarkes can smoke it for you.
