Mayo International Choral Festival. Castlebar – May
The festival takes the form of several international male/female adult choirs travelling to Mayo at the end of May each year, to partake on a competitive and non-competitive basis. Their visit includes a number of evening and daily performances county-wide, tours of Mayo and a gala concert on Saturday night.
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION CONFERENCE 19TH TO 20TH MAY
Digital Transformations brings together thought leaders in the arts, in business and technology, education and journalism to share their views on the digital society and the meaning and value of the arts in such a society. It is a showcase for artists who have begun to address these issues in both traditional and non-traditional forms. SWINFORD CHARITY CYCLE MAY 26TH STARTING AT 4pm
In aid of Achill RNLI. The cycle is a distance of 100km approx. and will cover some of the most beautiful scenery in our county. 60km route available also. The fee to enter is just €20.00.

CROSSMOLINA FISHING COMPETITION (LOCH CONN & CULLIN ANGLERS FISHING COMPETITION) 2ND & 3RD JUNE
Organised by Conn/Cullin Anglers Association. Competition starts at 11am and finishes at 6pm each day with a meal each day in Hiney’s and O’Malley’s afterwards.

CRINNIÚ NA MBÁD – GATHERING OF THE BOATS FRIDAY 22ND JUNE
“Crinniú Na mBád” (Irish for “The Gathering of Boats”) takes place on Friday June 22nd along the River Moy in Ballina. In what is set to be a most unusual and delightful sight, at 8pm a Gathering of Boats (including kayaks & paddleboards) will depart Ballina Quay, and in a celebration of Ballina’s boating history and heritage, travel up the river, decorated with flags, bunting and lights with live music taking place on the river itself. Achill Half Marathon & 10K
The next Achill Half Marathon & 10K race takes place on Saturday 7thJuly 2018 and is organised by Achill Event Management in association with Achill Tourism, the local tourist office on Achill Island, Co. Mayo, in the west of Ireland.
The event, in its current format, has been staged in Achill since 2007 and is approved by Athletics Ireland.

Ballina Salmon Festival – July
Now in its 54th year, Ballina Salmon Festival is one of the West of Ireland’s longest running family festivals, attracting crowds of over 250,000 annually to the North Mayo Capital.
The festival was originally named the ‘Moy Salmon Festival’, based on the fact that Ballina was home to one of the best rivers in Ireland, with the best fishing waters and salmon in the country. This is of course the case to this day, and Ballina, with its strong fishing heritage is known today as the ‘Salmon Capital of Ireland’.
Scoil Acla – July
2018 School Acla Summer School July 28th – August 4th
Scoil Acla is a summer school that offers teaching in traditional Irish music, arts and culture. In 1910 the first Acla School was established, and the event is run every year since it was re-launched in 1985. Scoil Acla offers excellent teaching in a range of disciplines for young people and older people and people with a diverse ability. Amongst the tutorials are the hood, the tin whistle, the fiddle, the whistle, the uilleann pipe, the wedding, the bodhrán, the concert and the box.
Siamsa Sráide Swinford – July / Aug
Síamsa Sráide Swinford is a summer street festival with open-air Céilí, Dancing, Heritage Day and International Busking Competitions. There are also history walks and talks, poetry recitals, a childrens programme and sport. This year the festival takes place from Friday 3rd August 2018 to the 8th August 2018.
