2018 Claremorris Drama and Fringe Festival
The 2018 Claremorris Drama and Fringe Festival will take place from Thursday 15th to 24th March 2018.

Claremorris Drama Festival – March
24th March: Western Greenway Marathon
This spectacular event will take place on the Great Western Greenway, one the longest off-road walking and cycling trails in Ireland. The event introduces a Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra Marathon to a route that is steeped in both history and scenic beauty. The event is open for both individuals and relay teams.
Inaugural running event on the Great Western Greenway from Westport to Achill. Three distances (Half, Full Marathon, and Ultra) plus relay option, with the Ultra ending at Achill. Full details & booking.
Mayo International Choral Festival. Castlebar - May
The festival takes the form of several international male/female adult choirs travelling to Mayo at the end of May each year, to partake on a competitive and non-competitive basis. Their visit includes a number of evening and daily performances county-wide, tours of Mayo and a gala concert on Saturday night.
Achill Half Marathon & 10K
The next Achill Half Marathon & 10K race takes place on Saturday 7thJuly 2018 and is organised by Achill Event Management in association with Achill Tourism, the local tourist office on Achill Island, Co. Mayo, in the west of Ireland.
The event, in its current format, has been staged in Achill since 2007 and is approved by Athletics Ireland.

Ballina Salmon Festival - July
Now in its 54th year, Ballina Salmon Festival is one of the West of Ireland’s longest running family festivals, attracting crowds of over 250,000 annually to the North Mayo Capital.
The festival was originally named the ‘Moy Salmon Festival’, based on the fact that Ballina was home to one of the best rivers in Ireland, with the best fishing waters and salmon in the country. This is of course the case to this day, and Ballina, with its strong fishing heritage is known today as the ‘Salmon Capital of Ireland’.
Scoil Acla - July
2018 School Acla Summer School July 28th – August 4th
Scoil Acla is a summer school that offers teaching in traditional Irish music, arts and culture. In 1910 the first Acla School was established, and the event is run every year since it was re-launched in 1985. Scoil Acla offers excellent teaching in a range of disciplines for young people and older people and people with a diverse ability. Amongst the tutorials are the hood, the tin whistle, the fiddle, the whistle, the uilleann pipe, the wedding, the bodhrán, the concert and the box.
Siamsa Sráide Swinford - July / Aug
Síamsa Sráide Swinford is a summer street festival with open-air Céilí, Dancing, Heritage Day and International Busking Competitions. There are also history walks and talks, poetry recitals, a childrens programme and sport. This year the festival takes place from Friday 3rd August 2018 to the 8th August 2018.
RUN FOR BOYLO - 22nd April
The 7th annual Run for Boylo will take on Sunday 22nd April 2018 in Foxford, Co. Mayo. This is both a 10km and 5km run/walk event. The race will be chipped timed and there will also be cash prizes for the 10km event. Registration IS at Foxford Sports and Leisure Centre from 9am-11:30 with all races starting at 12PM. Easkey Castle 5k/10k/10mile Fun Run - 29th April
The annual Easkey Castle 5k/10k and also a 10 miler fun run/walk/jog. Lots of cash prizes, chip timing and more… Starting and finishing in Easkey Village with chip timing for all races with the help of www.CoreTiming.ie. Live results on the Core Timing website are available as you cross the finish line, results will be posted to their facebook page within 1 hour of finish along with a text of your individual result to your mobile.

MAYO DAY - 5th May
Mayo Day 2018 is happening over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 5th – 6th May.
As always this is an opportunity to celebrate ‘Mayoness’ and take pride in that special little corner of the world that so many County Mayo natives are so proud of.

FLEADH CHEOIL MHAIGH EO - 7th - 13th May
Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo Traditional weekend. The County Fleadh is an annual event which takes place in May each year. It is coordinated by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and it is hosted by one of sixteenth branches of Comhaltas (Ceoltóirí Éireann) within the county.
Foxford streets welcome visitors and provide backdrop to competitions
The town can expect to welcome over 1,000 visitors over the two weekends during which hundreds of contestants will take part in competitions in Irish music, song, dance, language and storytelling. The dancing competitions take place on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May 2018 and all other competitions on the weekend of the 12th/13th of May 2018. The competition winners go on to represent Mayo at the Connacht Fleadh Cheoil, while the Connacht winners will advance to the All-Ireland Fleadh in Drogheda in August 2018.
